Born To Lead

By Kristen Freund
When asked about any awards or special positions Megan has received, her response was far from ordinary. Most people would pride themselves on receiving one award within the sport they played, or being captain of their team. But Megan has an all-natural will to be a leader in all areas of her life. She was born to lead.

Megan was voted captain of her cheerleading squad as well as receiving the “All Around Best” Award and Leadership Award. She is the president of the National Honor Society at Ludlow High School as well as president of Student Council. With all of this on her shoulders, she remains a very humble girl who downright loves cheerleading for the school she has the utmost pride for.

On top of all these leadership positions she has taken on, Williams also has a part-time job as a store clerk at Ludlow Pharmacy in her hometown and plays softball for her high school in the spring. She also coaches Ludlow Youth Football Cheerleading for girls ages 4-7. This team she now coaches, is the team she first started cheering for when she was 7 years old! She has now been cheering for 12 years, of which 4 have been at LHS.

WilliamsMegan-004Her skills and versatility make her a valuable asset to the Panthers all-girl squad, which consists of 20 girls ranging from freshmen to seniors. Williams can fly, base or backspot as the situation calls for it. Her coach, Stephanie Wolf, embraces these assets Megan brings to the squad. “Megan is a very hard worker. She never gives excuses, and you can always count on her,” she said.

Ludlow High School’s squad practices 4 hours, 2 days a week. And when the squad runs into a problem, Williams gets the other captains together to talk it over with the girls and they always find a way to work it out as a team.

On her down time, Williams likes to spend time with her friends and family. She enjoys reading books in the action and adventure genre, and considers herself to be adventurous, intelligent (she has a 4.0 GPA!), and creative.

Ludlow is a small high school with a close-knit group of students and faculty — Williams’s graduating class of 2011 will total just 59 students. Behind this close-knit group is an abundance of pride and spirit for Ludlow High School and everything that represents it. And that’s exactly why Megan loves cheerleading for LHS.
