Cheer Salon: Ooh La La Spa Homemade Hair Remover

May 4, 2010

Summer is right around the corner! Here’s a warm relaxing recipe that’s a big treat.

You will need:
1 cup of sugar
¼ cup of honey
Juice from ½ a lemon
1 tbsp corn starch
12 thin cotton strips
One wood tongue depressor or a small spatula

STEP 1: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the lemon juice, honey and sugar. Mix well and heat on medium in the microwave for two minutes. Remove from microwave, stir for one minute and let cool. The mixture should still be warm when you use it, but not too hot that you will burn yourself.

*** Always test a small area on your body to check for sensitivity or reaction before continuing.

STEP 2: Lightly dust the area you are about to wax with corn starch. Using the wooden tongue depressor, spread a thin layer onto your skin.

STEP 3: Cover it quickly with the cotton strip and pat it down in the direction in which the hair grows. Using your less dexterous hand, pull on your skin a little bit so that it’s not taut. Use the other hand to rip off the cotton strip, the faster you can rip the less painful it will be.

STEP 4: Wax a few small areas and reheat the mixture as needed.

Hope you enjoy!
